How Brisbane's The Walnut Restaurant increased their bookings and attracted new clients

The Walnut Restaurant and Lounge Bar have been serving guests for more than half a century in Australia. Situated inside the Royal on the Park Hotel and Suites Brisbane, it has a perfect location to match its long history. The restaurant and hotel are situated right across the famed City Botanic Gardens and are adjacent to the Brisbane river, which is one of the most famous landmarks in the city.

For more than 50 years, locals, as well as celebrities, frequently visit Walnut Restaurant. With classic and elegant interiors to set the mood, guests can enjoy a casual dining experience at the restaurant where they are served modern Australian cuisine created from sustainably sourced produce.

In 2021, it was recognized in the 2021 Best Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence for South East Queensland.

The challenge

As a long-standing restaurant in the city of Brisbane, Walnut Restaurant has developed a loyal customer base over many decades. However, the online booking system that they were using didn’t give them the capability to build rich guest data that would have allowed them to personalize their guest experience much further or initiate marketing campaigns for their existing clientele. They needed an online booking system that powers them with guest data that they can own and control so they can keep attracting guests–old and new–back to the restaurant.

Working with TableCheck

Since working with TableCheck, bookings at the Walnut Restaurant increased significantly as well as the overall profit.

According to the Food Beverage Manager Simon Fuller:

“Since engaging TableCheck for our restaurant management system the whole process has been made so easy. Winston Hammill [TableCheck Country Manager, Australia] and Akira Sirimayurachat made the engagement, implementation and transition so seamless.

“Even the post-implementation and ongoing support are amazing. Since we went live with TableCheck we have seen an increase in internet traffic through our website and social media pages. This has resulted in an increase in cover numbers, higher average checks, increased revenue, and reduced reservation costs. I would highly recommend TableCheck to any restaurant or hospitality operation.”
